Hypnotherapy Support for People Affected by Cancer

Gentle support for relaxation, emotional wellbeing and coping with the challenges of cancer.

A Safe and Supportive Space

A diagnosis of cancer can feel overwhelming. Hypnotherapy offers a calm and supportive space in which you can talk about how you are feeling and experience gentle guided relaxation.

Relaxation can help to reduce stress and support your ability to cope with the emotional and practical challenges that cancer may bring.

Specialist training and experience

My specialist cancer training has been provided by the London College of Clinical Hypnosis and Cancer Support Scotland.

What Happens During a Hypnotherapy Session?

Time to Talk

An opportunity to talk about what you are experiencing and the support you would find most helpful.

Gentle Relaxation

Guided relaxation to help calm the mind, release tension and create a greater sense of ease.

Personalised Support

Positive suggestions and visualisations tailored to concerns such as anxiety, sleep or medical procedures.

Support Between Sessions

Practical tools and techniques, together with a relaxation recording to use at home.

Support Tailored to You

During hypnosis, the conscious, decision-making mind becomes quieter and more relaxed. This can make it easier to focus on helpful suggestions, positive imagery and new ways of responding to difficult thoughts or feelings.

Every session is personalised. Suggestions and guided visualisations will relate to the particular difficulties you are experiencing, such as disrupted sleep, stress, anxiety or fear surrounding treatment.

“The aim is to help you feel calmer, more supported and better able to cope with the challenges you are facing.”

Ways Hypnotherapy May Support You

  • Supporting a family member or friend
  • Preparation for end of life

Experienced Cancer Support

I have supported people affected by cancer for many years, working privately, within the NHS and in partnership with cancer charities including MASScot (Melanoma Action and Support Scotland) and Cancer Support Scotland.

Hypnotherapy Alongside Medical Care

Hypnotherapy is a complementary therapy intended to support emotional wellbeing, relaxation and coping. It does not treat or cure cancer and should not replace medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

This is especially important because statements about “boosting the immune system,” “fighting illness” or giving the body a better chance to repair could be interpreted as medical treatment claims. I would soften those phrases throughout the page.
